Short Training Course in Music Therapy

The College of Music Mahidol University will organize Short Courses in Music Therapy on September 25
– 26, 2009 and October 29 – 31, 2009 at the College of Music Mahidol University. The workshop will be
lead by Associate Professor Dr. Dena Register from University of Kansas, U.S.A.
This 3-day, intensive workshop is designed to train allied health professionals and educators on the
therapeutic uses of music as applied to the patients or clients that they work with in a healthcare or
educational setting. Therapeutic use of music is the use of live or recorded music by a trained
individual to enhance quality of life, quality of treatment and to achieve non-music goals. Presentations
will include written material, covered in a lecture format as well as video examples of music therapy that
illustrate the concepts we will cover. Additionally, attendees will participate in active music making and
group leading in order to practice some of the techniques discussed.
